Little Learners Love Literacy: Uncovering the topic gap to drive SEO and AI search growth

Helping an established literacy brand capture high-intent traffic from schools through a topic-first SEO/GEO strategy, site architecture overhaul and internal capability uplift

The challenge

Operating in a highly competitive literacy resources market, Little Learners Love Literacy faced a critical hurdle. Their existing customer base was loyal, but attracting new customers had stalled. The educational landscape was moving quickly. Evolving school curricula and shifting Department of Education guidelines meant that teachers were constantly searching for new, compliant teaching tools.

Little Learners Love Literacy needed a way to break through the noise, stand out to schools and uncover clear, sustainable opportunities for organic growth.

The solution

Ranking for topics to own the market, not just brand terms.

To move beyond brand-name searches and capture educators who hadn’t yet discovered the Little Learners brand, we shifted the focus towards high-value, category-level topics. Our strategy balanced immediate website optimisation with long-term internal capability building.

Our core approach involved:

Topics ranked for relevance and what the brand could ‘own’

  • strategic keyword mapping. We developed a targeted range of topic-based keywords that school teachers were actively searching for. This allowed the brand to own major industry conversations across phonics, morphology, fluency, comprehension and key models like ‘The Big 6 of Literacy’.

  • an on-page optimisation audit. We identified specific high-potential pages on the existing website that required immediate optimisation to rank higher for teacher intent.

  • content strategy and blog migration. We developed a comprehensive content strategy to house topical blogs. This included a plan to migrate the Little Learners blog from a separate system directly into the main website domain, instantly raising the overall authority and credibility of the entire site in search engine eyes.

  • SEO capability uplift. We addressed an internal knowledge gap by training the team on the foundational mechanics of search, including metadata, heading structures and proper asset file naming.

  • process framework creation. We built user-friendly page templates and content briefing documents that helped the team to consider, plan and integrate strategic keywords before writing.

The result

The engagement provided Little Learners Love Literacy with a clear roadmap to self-sufficiency, transforming how they approach digital content creation.

Outcomes included:

  • a fully aligned strategy designed for sustained, scalable organic growth

  • future-proofed team skills and understandings of how to optimise all new content for modern search engines (SEO) and generative search models (GEO)

  • embedded content governance and operational processes, ensuring all internal content writers consult the marketing team for SEO reviews before launching new pages.
